THE PREMIER OPTIMISTIC. “A GOOD WIND UP TO A BAD YEAR.* 1 By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, May 29. The Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey, Primer Minister, and Sir William Fraser left for the south to-day, and will be joined at Oamaru by the Hon. E. P. Lee (Minister; for Internal Affairs). Mr. Massey will deal with finance and other subjects in his policy speech at Ih-» vercargill on Thursday. He indicated to-day that any subjects he was unable to deal with at Tnvercar-* gill would probably be dealt with at tfio Reform Party’s dinner in Christchurch on Monday next. “You may argue as much as you like about it,” said Mr. Massey to an interviewer to-day, when referring to the accounts for the year, “but it is a very good wind-up to a bad year. Look at the improvement that took place in the last quarter (I am speaking now from a financial point of view). Some peoph> think things can be done in six months, but it taKes six months to get going.” Mr. Massey declined to go into the; matter in detail, and he indicated that he would deal with it in his policy speech at Invercargill.
