BUYING GOVERNMENT STORES. A BOARD APPOINTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Prime Minister announces the appointment of a Stores Control Board, which is to superintend the purchase of all Government stores. This is in accordance with the recommendations of the Economies Commission, which reported that the established system of independent purchases by departments was wasteful and expensive. The Stores Control Board is to coas { st of the Minister for Public Works, the General Manager of Railways, the Secretary to the Treasury, the Undertary for Public Works, and the Secretary to the Post Office. This board will have the assistance of the advisory committee, consisting of the stores officials of the Public Works, Railways and Postal Departments, and all purchases will be made by one of the big departments represented on the advisory committee.
