SENTENCE OF DEATH.

AN EX-AIRMAN GUILTY. » THE QUESTION OF SANITY. By Telegraph.—Press Aasn.—Copyright Received May 7, 5.5 p.m. London, May 6. Reginald True, an ex-airman officer, was sentenced to death for murdering Gertrude Yates, who was found dead in her flat at Fulham. The defence pleaded insanity. Mr. Justice McCardie carefully detailed the law in connection with insanity in murder, saying it required clearing up by the House of Lords. Several witnesses gu\e evidence that True was a drug-taker and often boasted about committing a murder. True joked continually during the trial, and seemed quite unconcerned. When he met Jacobs (recently found guilty of another murder) in the gaol yard, True said: “Another to join the murder club.” —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
