THE BUTTER POOL.

THE SCHEME CONDEMNED.' By Telegraph.—Preu Assn.—Copyright. London, May 2. The newspaper Grocer oaye tnat NewZealand’s suggested compulsory dairy produce pool does not commend itself to the trade in the United Kingdom. Its advantages will be much out-weigh-ed by its disadvantages, as all healthy rivalry and competition would be eliminated and progress retarded. Any pool of this kind will be resented br the British distribution trade and will * result in the sacrifice of the goodwill of New Zealand produce. The public would consider the pool a replica of the American Beef Trust. It would be practically a second edition of Government control, and the grocery trade has had enough of this kind of thing. APPROVED IN HAWKE’S BAY. Dannevirk’e, Last Night. A largely attended meeting or representatives of dairy factories in. Hawke’s Bay, held in Dannevirke, unanimously approved the proposed compulsory pool of darry produce, and appointed delegates to the Wellington, conference.
