The half-yearly meeting of the Colonial Sugar Co. was held to-day. For the Australian section the net profits for the six months are £215,680. A dividend of 15s a share from the mill profits and 5s from tax free investments was declared. It was decided to transfer £50,000 to reserve and carry forward £33,489. The Fiji section’s net profit for the year ended March 31, was £213,000, from which £113,750 was deducted to pay a dividend in September last. It was resolved to pay six per cent, dividend on preference shares, absorbing £48,750 and carry forward £50,000, making the total carried forward to next year’s account £240,212. The report stated that the Fiji output was above expectations, but disturbed labor conditions militated against the company’s progress.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
