NEW PLYMOUTH PORT.

TRADE DURING LAST MONTH. AN INCREASE OF CARGO. Last month the cargo handled at the port of New Plymouth was 1201 tons more than the quantity dealt with in April of 1921. indicating the growth of trade through >ew Plymouth. There was a considerable decrease in the aggregate tonnage of vessels trading at the port, due to t'he fact that two Home liners visited the port in April of last year, whereas no overseas vessels called last month. The total number of vessels entering the port last month was 19, compared with 18 for April of last year, their aggregate tonnage being 20,906, against 28,235. Imports amounted to 8591 tons, and exports 2453 tons, or a total of 11,044 tons. For the corresponding month of 1921 the imports amounted to 7211 tons, and the exports to 2632 tons, or a total of 9843 tons.
