} MAY IN ENGLAND. INTERESTING MATCHES By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received April 23, 5.5 p.m. London, April 22. The Roehampton golf tournament provided further surprises. In tte second round Duncan beat Ray 3 up and one. In the semi-final Duncan played brilliantly and defeated Gadd By 5 up and 4 by means of a remarkable round, in whidh he did fourteen holes in 52, the last five in 14. Ockenden beat Jully two up and one. A large crowd followed the final, in which Ockenden went to pieces during the first half, Duncan turning three up. Duncan failed lamentably on the home journey, hia direction being erratic and kis putting very feeble. The result was that Ockenden squared at the fourteenth hole and won three up and one. In the annual men’s versus women’s golf match, which was played in continuous rain at Stoke Poges, the men, conceding their opponents a stroke at alternate holes, won seven and the women three matches. Weathered beat Miss Cecil Leitch two up; Tooley beat Miss Mody Griffiths six and four; Mrs. Macßeth beat Montmerrency seven and five; Miss Fowler beat Mellin six and four.

MITCHELL’S 1 FINE SCORE. Received April 23, 5.5 p.m. London, April 22. Mitchell, playing golf at Woodcote. Park with Vardon, Braid and Kinch, had a score of 72, six under bogey. NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. Medal matches for seniors and juniors were played on the New Plymouth Club’s lings on Saturday, boisterous weather prevailing. The competition among the seniors was won by H. D. Butcher, with a net score of 78. The junior match was won by Wilson with a net score of 82.
