The first of the Inter-State tennis matches between New Zealand and New South Wales ladies was completed yesterday, the New South Wales ladies gaining a two to one victory over the New Zealanders. With the exception of Miss Curtis, none of the latter showed fheir best form, the climate and the courts telling against them. In the singles Mrs. Lascelles (N.S.W.) lost to Miss Curtis (N.Z.) 3—6, 6—l, 10—12; Miss St. George (N.S.W.) beat Miss Macfarlane (N.Z.) 6—3, 6—B, 6—l; Miss Lloyd (N.S.W.) lost to Miss Payton (N.Z.) 7—5, 5 —7, 4—6; Miss Gray (N.S.W.) beat Miss Well wood (N.Z.) 6—4, 6—3.
In the doubles Mrs. Lascelles and Miss St. George beat Miss Macfarlane and Miss Payton 6—l, 6—l; Miss Gray and Miss Lloyd beat Miss Wellwood and Miss Curtis 6—2, 6—2.

The Davis Cup team sailed for England by tte Osterley. THE INDIAN TEAM. Delhi, April 21. The AH India Tennis Association has made urgent appeals to the public for funds. It now announces that it hopes to send to join the tehm already cabled. The opinion is generally expressed In the Press that if Sleem plays for India there is an excellent chance of meeting Australasia in the final.
