HAWKE’S BAY J.C. MEETING. FIRST DAY'S ACCEPTANCES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, Last Night. Following are the acceptances for the autumn meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club: MANGATARATA HURDLES. One mile and three-quarters.

Killlck, trainer of Beauford, for 825 guineas. TURF TOPICS. (By "Moturoa”.) This week’s racing fixtures Include the Avondale autumn meeting, which concludes to-day : Reefton races on Wednesdaj'; Hawke’s Bay on Wednesday and Thursday; and South Canterbury on Friday and Saturday. One day shalt thou honor Anzac; five days Pegasus 1 Mr. W. Higgins probably has reason to regret purchasing Trlboulet, and on Its form at Feilding the Kilbroney gelding looks like a bad bargain. Mr. Jas. Bull was after Triboulet, but for some reason or other the deal fell through. When a man of Jim Bull’s experience passes a horse by the prad must have a weak spot somewhere. Personally I consider Trlboulet is a big splaw-footed animal that will not stand long, and this opinion was publish ad when the horse raced at* Awa-
punl and Marton with some success four months ago. Equitable appears to have lost all form, and his exhibitions at Btills and at Feilding were very poor. The son of Hallowman and Equitas is miles below the quality of his illustrious parents. Mr. “Ted” Penman has erected a house and boxes at Otaki, and in a couple of weeks will shift his team to Otaki. Fran, the full brother to Amber Tips, will be sent home, and Penman’s string will include Detroit, Jasper Gate, Adrina and Complimentary. The vagaries of the dot-and-dash department were responsible for a mild sensation down south the other day. Mr. W. Stone telegraphed to Riverton on Saturday that Silver Peak did a good final gallop, but when the wire was delivered it read that Silver Peak had “died” after a final gallop 1
