FIRE ON A LINER.
OUTBREAK AMONGST CARGO. FLAMES QUICKLY SUBDUED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Fire broke out on the Shaw, Savill Company’s Raranga at the wharf at 8/» this evening. The outbreak waa among copra in the after port deck, add the city 'brigade was enabled to subdue it in half an hour. So far as is known the damage is •confined to the copra, of which thero are several hundred bags, although large quantities of wool stowed nearby were at times in danger. The damage to the ship will probably only be decks buckled by the heat. The cargo, consisting of wool and produce, was loaded at Napier, Russell and Auckland. The vessel had nearly, completed loading, and, was to have sailed for London on Tuesday.
