DRAINAGE INSPECTION.
ALLEGATION BY PLUMBERS. POSITION IN NEW PLYMOUTH. The question of drainage inspection in New Plymouth was before the BoroCouncil last night, when the secretary of the Technical College Advisory Board (Mr. A. L. Moore) wrote conveying’ resolutions passed at a conference between master plumbers and the board regarding the registration of plumbers, and the appointment of a qualified plumbing drainage inspector. + Mr. Day reported that the suggestion to appoint a properly qualified inspector was made under a misappre- 1 hension as to his qualifications. Ihe question of an inspector to devote his whole time to the inspection of plump-, ing work was one for the council. Mr. Dav controverted statements made at the conference to the effect, that drainage inspection was not carried out sufficientlv in New Plymouth. The Mayor regarded ae serious the allegations made by the master plumbers to the effect that drainage in New Plvmouth was not as it should be. On the motion of the Mayor It was decided that the question be referred to the finance committee, and that a letter be sent to the Master Plumbers Association asking them to be present at the meeting in connection with the statements made at the conference. The seconder of the motion (Cr. Griffiths) said that if all the drams were tested in a similar manner to those coming under his personal notice, he was quite sure there would be no cause for complaint.
