TARANAKI TOURNAMENT. OPENS ON SATURDAY. The entries for the Taranaki Easter tournament have closed with 93 entries, as against 70 last year. This is most satisfactory, and with fine weather tte tournament should be the best yet held by the New Plymouth Club. Piay begins on Saturday, and will be continued on Monday and Tuesday. Tile following visitors from outside of the province have entered: Dr. Webster, G. F. Johnston, G. N. Pharazyn, C. M. Turrell (Wellington), E. G. Sim, W. L. Fitzherbert, F. H. Cooke, S. W. Rapley, A. E. Ekstedt, H. Young, A. Seifert, W. Seifert (Palmerston North), Dr. R. Wright (Napier), F. G. Bevan, R. P. Giblin, H. Williams, F. Turnbull, L. J. Verry, D. H. McKay, E. M. Silk, C. J. Ross, Dr. D. Wilson, J. Harold (Wanganui), W. E. Carthew, N. J. Stltctbury, D. Pryde, P. Q. Miles (Feilding), and P. Prichard (Daanevlrke). W. O’CaUaghan (\Hawera), who has recently returned from a trip to England, will also be a competitor. It is mmusing to observe, that arrangements are being perfected for a golf match between Crown Prince Hirohito of Japan and the Prince of W’ales when the last-named reaches Ja-pan. It was to be played on a public course, but for some reason has been changed to the imperial gardens in Tokio. Perhaps the reason is that if one of the contestants foozles too rnudii he is apt to endanger the Anglo-Japanese Entente.
