FOOTBALL.
INGLEWOOD UNITED CLUB. (From Our Own Correspondent.) An extraordinary general meeting of this club took place on Tuesday evening, when there were some twenty members present, tn the absence of the president (Mr. J. R. Sutherland), Mr. F. H. Brown presided. He opened the meeting by explaining that it was culled to consider the advisability of the club adopting some system for protecting the club’s team members with an accident insurance policy during tho season, and invited those present to express their views on the subject. Mr. P. Chapman, hon. secretary, explained the club’s financial position, and showed that the whole question resolved itself into one of a choice between collective Insurance by the club of its active or playing members, and on tile other hand by each player separately insuring at his own discretion.
Messrs. R. Fairweather, S. Neilsen, and others also spoke on the (matter, which was finally settled bj- the following resolution (on the motion of Messrs. C. Lealand and W. H. Stephens) being carried: "That the financial position of tte club does not warrant the expenditure needed for the collective insurance of playing members, as outlined, and that therefore each player will have to take the responsibility for his own insurance.” A good deal of general conversation on club matters followed, ahd amongst other subjects broached was that of holding entertainments and the like in aid of the funds during the coming winter, anent whi<± one remark of the secretary is worthy of note. He said that the suggestion was all very well, but in practice it turned out none too good, as hardly any member of the club really put his shoulder to the wheel to help such functions to a successful issue. However, there is little doubt that, as winter comes on, euetre parties, with a dance attached, and such like methods of augmenting funds, will be amongst Inglewood’s relaxations. Mr. Chapman announced that the club was sending u seven-aside football team to the tournament at Wnitara on Easter Monday. Votes of thanks to the chairman and Mr. Eagar for the use of his room concluded the meeting. TUKAPA v. STAR. The following team will represent Tukapa v.
