SUPREME COURT.
GISBORNE SESSIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association, Gisborne, March 21. In the Supreme Court, Vernon Winfield Higgins Linkhorn, on a charge of bigamy, was sentenced to six months 5 imprisonment. The case was deferred 1? months ago to give accused an opportunity of contracting a legal marriage with the woman he had bigamously married, but the woman refused to marry him, and His Honor said he thought she was right. The court is hearing the civil suit in which Hugh Paterson claims from the National Piano Co., Auckland, £3OOO damages for alleged malicious prosecution. RACING CLUB APPEAL. Wellington, March 21. Mr. Justice Chapman gave judgment in the appeal by the Wellington Racing ■Clhb against the magistrate’s decision, holding the club responsible for the loss of a lady’s fur coat left in the Cloakroom at Trentham racecourse. His Honor said the club had failed to show that the magistrate’s decision should be reversed.
