PROTEST TO THE PREMIER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., March 21. The general committee of the Manawatu A. and P. Association discussed the Government's amusement tax on the gate receipts and members’ subscriptions, and decided to write to all associations up to Hawke’s Bay and in Mahawatu, together with the members of Parliament for the respective districts, with the object of arranging a joint deputation to the Premier, urging him to exempt associations from the operation of the tax. It was decided to write to the Council of Agriculture soliciting its support.
