MOTOR-CYCLE RACING.
HAWERA MOTOR CYCLE SPORTS. Motor cyclists are reminded that entries for all events at the Hawera Motor Cycle Club’s annual meeting, to be held at the Hawera racecourse on Wednesday, March 29, close with the secretary, Mr. W. A. Spragg, Hawera, at 8 p.m. to-morrow. This progressive club is offering £2OO in prize money divided among the eight events. The principal event is the President’s Handicap, of 12 laps, open to any machine, and it carries £5O in prize-money, the first prize being valued at £3O. The Egmont Racing Club’s Handicap, of 10 laps, carries £3O. The Normanby, Hawera and Manaia Handicaps, each of 8 laps, carry £24. The Taranaki Handicap, of 7 laps. £2l, and the Novice and Consolation are also well endowed. Tn addition, the Big Tree Benzine Co. have presented the club with a handsome silver cup, which is to be given as a points prize and is to be won straight out. Tt is now on. - view at the local agents (Messrs. Bennett and Sutton’s), where it is attracting much attention. The meeting fits in nicely with the New Plymouth meeting on the previous Saturday, and the majority of New Zealand’s leading motor cycle racers will be competing at both meetings. Already nominations have been received from Coleman, Mangham, and Whitehead, the three world’s champions, so that patrons can be assured of a thrilling afternoon’s sport.
