FOOTBALL.
THE RUGBY GAME. ENGLAND BEATS SCOTLAND. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, March 18. At rugby football England defeated Scotland by 11 points to 5. i PATEA CLUB. At the Patea Club’s annual meeting, Mr. C. M. Strouts stressed the fact that the Taranaki Rugby Union had failed to keep its promise with regard to the payment of £2O for the rent of the sports ground. The travelling expenses of the club were heavy owing to its territory being at the extreme end of the district. The gate receipts would have been greater had the union arranged for one match instead of two on Saturdays at times. The Patea seniors had fulfilled every engagement, and had thus been the. means of increasing the union’s revenue by the gate money at the outside matches, a fact which the members of the union appeared to forget.
It was resolved that the Taranaki Union be urged to divide the district into two divisions, viz., a northern and a southern division.
It was also decided that an emphatic protest be made to the Taranaki Union against any alteration in the boundaries between Wanganui and Taranaki.
