The Congress of the International Lawn Tennis Federation adopted "-a resolution abolishing the system of challenge rounds in the world’s championship. DAVIS CUP. MATCHES. New York, March 18. The United States Lawn Tennis Association has announced that it will suggest that the preliminary Davis Cup matches, should be played in the various countries of Europe, pointing out that the primary object of the Davis tourney is to the spread of interest in tennis throughout the world. It was at first thought it would involve the minimum of expense if the first of the second round matches was played in the United States, but it is now felt that the additional expense would not be justified. It is announced that the dates set for the completion of the Davis Cup matches are, first ties by June 24, second by July 15, semi-finals by July 29, final by August 8.
