BITTER OPPOSITION ATTACKS. WIDESPREAD UNREST CAUSED. THREATS OF ASSASSINATION. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received March 19, 11.30 p.m. Tokio, March 18. A resolution introduced by the Opposition, expressing lack of confidence in the Government, was defeated, the Government receiving a majority of 100 votes. There is considerable fear caused by the attempts of political assassins, following yesterday’s premature bomb explosion. The bitter Opposition attacks against the Government in the Diet have caused widespread unrest. Prince Saionji, who is ill in Tokio, has received a series of letters stating that unless he dies of sickness he will be assassinated when he leaves his house, regardless of the number of guards. An unidentified man carrying a bomb attempted to enter the Imperial Palace grounds, but was halted by the guard. While endeavoring to throw the bomb at the guard the man blew himself to pieces. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
