EXPELLED FROM SCHOOL.
TREATMENT OF A Y’OUNG GIRL. MASTER WITHIN HIS RIGHTS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The incident of the public expulsion of a girl nine years of age from the Elmwood school for thieving and lying came before the Canterbury Education Board to-day. The Appointments Committee reported that the headmaster was within the powers conferred upon him by the Education Act, but the committee suggested that in the interest of a child’s future in such cases such action was to be deprecated. The report was adopted. A letter from the Trades and Labor Council asking that the headmaster should be dismissed was merely received.
