ATHLETICS

STRATFORD CARNIVAL. The committee in charge of the grounds have made good progress towards having the track in good order for March 23. Cyclists, who have been training on the oval, express the opinion that when the Surface has been rolled (which is being done early this week) the track will be in every way satisfactory and most suitable for the purpose. Attention Is drawn to the fact that under no circumstances will torses be allowed on the grounds until Carnival Day ; to train horses on the running and cycling track at this juncture will undo all the work and time expended in making the surface good; the committee will be compelled to take drastic action against anyone infringing in this respect. DATE OF RIVERLEA SPORTS. The Riverlea sports will be held on March 30 instead of April 6, as originally advertised. Nominations will close on the 23rd instead of March 30.
