SALE OF BLOOD STOCK. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Melbourne, March 14. At the Newmarket sale of blood stock Miss Pinkerton brought 950 guineas. She was purchased by J. Holt. Pascoe was passed in at 1000 guineas and King Forest at 800 guineas. RACING CLUB’S DEBENTURES. Wellington, March 14. The Wellington Racing Club's debentures for £50,000 were doubly subscribed in a few THE OPUNAKE MEETING. Molleen Oge has been scratched fob all engagements at the Opunake meeting. RANGITIKEI ANNUAL MEETING. ACCEPTANCES TO-NIGHT. The Rangitikei Racing Club's annual meeting, which takes place at Bulls on March 22 and 23, is now engaging a lot of attention, and it is quite on the cards that a good nuimber of Taranaki horses will be seen under silk there on Wednesday and Thursday next. A fair amount of rain has fallen at Bulls recently, so that the tracks should be in good order, and already accommodation has been heavily booked. Rangitikei Racing Club is in the happy position of being able to ‘“put up” about sixty persons, and boxes for as many horses are available on the course. Acceptances for all first day’s evehts (including the Trial Plate), close with the secretary, Mr. Harry Goodall, Bulls, this evening at 9 p.m. The secretary reports that the following horses have been scratched for all engagements: Ngata, Wrangle, Mura a bi, and Ecuador. Battle Echo is also an unlikely runner at the meeting. TURF TOPICS. (By "Moturoa.”) On Friday next the Opunake Racing Club’s annual meeting will attract a big number of sporting folk to Plhama, and judging by the splendid acceptances carded for the gathering a good day's sport awaits patrons. Seven horses hold their ground In the Cup race, and Egunont Park, Kareao,. £unny Jim and one or two others should run a good mile and a quarter. The St. Patrick’s Handicap has attracted a nice field df eight, including Income, Kareao, and Annorel. Banogue and Fibre are sure to have plenty of followers In the Hack Hurdles, and in the minor events Big Push, Ardath, Voluble and Pouma should show up prominently. The first race is timed to start at 11.30 a.m. Ngata’s showing in the Napier Cup was a distinct disappointment to his connections, but the Marton horse was a trifle sore after his Wanganui efforts, and the weight appeared to stop him in the straight. Ngatr has had a heavy tlune of it during the months, and a short spell would be acfvTsable before taking him up for winter racing.

The Stratford A. and P. Society is making a strong bld for public patronage on March 23, the date of the carnival to be held on the Stratford show grounds. The menu includes trotting races, cycling and running events, tug-of-war. and Highland dancing, and such a variety of contests should prove a great “druw.” The writer is chiefly concerned with the trotting races, which will be held under the rules of the New Zealand Trotting Association, and it is to be hoped that the many owners of trotting horses in Taranaki will support the A. and P. Society as richly as this go-ahead body deserves. The events carded arc- as follows: Maiden Handicap, one mile; Open, Handicap, one mile and a half; Farmers’ Handicap, one mile; and Consolation Handicap, one mile. All are saddle events. Naminatons for the various “trots” close on Saturday, March 18, and Mr. J F. Butler will attend to the handicapping. The detailed programme is advertised in another column. TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB The Taranaki Jockey Club Committee met last night. Present: Messrs. L. A. Nolan (in the chair), W. C. Weston, F. Orbell, W. P. Nicol!, L. B. Webster, O. Sole, G. Fraser, A. R. Standish, J. McLeod, and B. H. Chaney. An apology was received from Mr. W. T. Hookham. A certificate of fitness and of character was granted in respect to G. S. Powell’s application for a trainer’s license, subject to the Wanganui Club having no objection. It was decided to advertise for an assistant caretaker. Accounts amounting to £351 15s were passed for payment.
