NEW PLYMOUTH v. STRATFORD. The following is the result of the match between the Stratford Tennis Club and the New Plymouth Tennis Club, which was played at New Plymouth on Thursday. The match resulted in a win for Stratford by 9 sets to 6. Owing to showery weather, the combined doubles were not played. Wilson 9; Reader 2 v. Valentine 9. Ladies’ Singles.—Mrs. Weston 7 v. Miss Winfield 2; Miss Macky 7 v. Mrs. Nicholson 3; Miss Fletcher 7 v. Mrs. Breswter 4; Mrs. Lightband 4 v. Miss Griffin 7. Men’s Doubles. —Clark and Ranford 9 v. Balharry and Turner 3; Wright and Kuch 9 v. Colson and Wynyard 8; Lawrence and Reader 5 v. Wilson and Valentine 9. Ladies’ Doubles.—Mrs. Weston and Miss Macky 7 v. Mrs. Nicholson and Miss Winfield 6; Miss Fletcher and Mrs. Lightband 4 v. Mrs. Brewster and Miss Griffin 7. SCHOOLS’ MATCHES. Competitors in the schools championships are notified that these matches will be continued on the New Plymouth Club’s courts, Vivian Street, this morning, play commencing at 9 o’clock, at which time all competitors must attend.
