RACES AT TAKAPUNA. NEW MILE RECORD MADE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. At the motor-cycle races on the Takapuna racecourse, the New Zealand heavyweight championship for 15 miles was won by P. Coleman on a 7-9 h.p. Indian, L. Mangham, on a 7-9 h.p. Harley-Davidson being second, and S. Whitehead, or a 7-9 Excelsior, was third. Won by 59 yards'. Time, 13min 11 In a special test, Whitehead and Mangham lowered Coleman’s world’s record of 49 3-ssec. for one mile on a grass track with a flying start by two-flfths of a second, though the course was heavy.
