BUILDING TRADE.

KEEPING UP WELL. The building trade is recovering from the slackness caused by the holidays, the value of the permits issued by the New Plymouth Borough building inspector >(Mr. R. Day) during February amounting to £19,860 compared with £BBOO for the preceding month. Included in last month’s figures is £3OOO on account of Messrs. White’s, Limited, for repairs to the froht of their drapery shop in Devon Street. Permits were also taken out for twelve new houses, three of which were for amounts over £2OOO. The fees collected totalled £76 5s and the inspector characterised the month’s trade as, keeping up well.
