SWIMMING.
CENTRAL SCHOOL EVENTS. Boys attending the Central School swam the following distances at the salt water baths, for the certificates awarded by the Amateur Swimming Association: —H. Drewery, 2 miles 66 2-3 yards; C. 11. Miles, 2 miles; S. Steffensen, L. Kerr and C. Campbell, 1 mile; Brenmuhl, J. Smith and R. Williams, 1000 yards; S. Russell and L. Bennett, 933 1-3 yards; Black, 866 2-3 yards ; R. Boyle, 733 1-3 yards; Valentine and Morrison 666 2-3 yards ; R. Bramley, C. Kerr, M. Moreton and A. Henderson, 600 yards; Johnson and S. Higgins, 533 1-3 yards; T. Boyle, Field, Ferry. R. Jury, Girling and Maddock. 466 2-3 yards ; J. Knight, Rawson, Kingston, W. Lee and C. Molllson, 400 yards; A. Taunt, 366 2-3 yards; Bullock and L. Briggs, 333 1-3 yards; W. Jones, R. Bell and Goodaere, 266 2-3 yards; .A. Bennoch, 200 yards; K. Smith, 166 2-3 yards ; .N. 'Gardiner, 117 yards; Hughes, 66 2-3 yards; L. Williams, 33 1-3 yards. It is interesting to note that Drewery, who swam the greatest distance, commenced swimming only a month ago, taking his first stroke in the water on January 17 as a pupil of Mr. P. A. Mathleson.
