INGLEWOOD.
BOROUGH COUNCIL. (Fron| Our Own Correspondent.) February 16. The monthly meeting of the Borough Council took place on Tuesday. Present: The Mayor (Mr. J. R. Sutherland) and Crs. Egarr, Eagar, Gamlin, Frewin and Spurdie.
A transfer of lease from Petersen and Esse to Tame was agreed to. An application from the Plunket Society to hold a street collection in Inglewood was acceded to. It was resolved to instruct the ranger not to interfere with any stock (horses or cattle) tethered on any land in such a manner as to prevent them being able to get on to any street or footpath. Th# report of the works committre was adopted. The question of the extension of the water service in Kelly Street was left to the Mayor and Cr. D. T. Egarr to report on. It was resolved to extend the sewerage system in Standish Street, so as to include Nurse Curta’s premises, whose offer of £25 towards the cost of extension was accepted. The town clerk was instructed to inform monumental masons doing work in the cemetery in reference to the necessity for keeping any vehicles they may require on the roadways provided for that purpose. A vote of sympathy with Cr. R. Fawcett in his illness, which is preventing him from attending the municipal meetings, was passed. DOMAIN BOARD. A meeting of the Domain Board was held on Tuesday- night. Present: Messrs. J. R. Sutherland (chairman), D. T. Egarr, W. H. Eagar, A. B. Gamlin and F. Spurdie. > The report of the year’s transactions and balance-sheet to December 31, 1921, were adopted. The Athletic Club’s application for the use of the sports ground reserve was granted. The recommendations of the committee for work to be done were approved and the carrying out of the proposals was delegated to the committee.
