Sydney, Feb. 15. ■ Mr. Dooley, referring to the statement made by Mr. Matthews, welfare officer, on the steamer Largs Bay, stated that the latter deserved the gratitude of Australia for exposing the immigration muddle Lord Northeliffe’s warning had been ignored that immigration on top of unemployment spelt tragedy for the immigrant, unpopularity for the movement, and disaster for the Government responsible.
