DISTRICT NEWS.
WHAREROA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) On Friday last the Whareroa school children, celebrated their annual scuoui pxenie at "Mount View.” when a very pleasant day was spent. Messrs. Eustace, Nicholas, and Bloor are deserving of great praise for the untiring efforts they made in attending to and finding pleasure for one and all. A bountiful dinner and afternoon tea with a lollie scramble was partaken of by all, when each child was then presented with a book by Mr. Eustace, chairman of the loaai school committee. During the day tlie following gained prizes In the various sporting events: — Boys' race, standards 1 and 2.—Hardy Benton 1, Dell Eustace 2. Boys under 9 years.—-N. Saul 1, C. Saul 2. Girls' race, standards 1 and 2.—lris Nicholas 1, Bernice Marra 2. Girls’ three-legged race. —M. Eaves and E. Perry 1, I. Nicholas and M. Benton 2. Girls’ blindfold horse race.—M. Daves and E. Perry 1, H. Burton and M. Eaves 2. Boys’ blindfold horse nice.—D. Benton and W. Saul 1, K. Reynolds and C. Eustace 2. Boys’ race.—Digby Benton 1, George Barrow 2.
