VICTORIA LEAGUE.

NEW PLYMOUTH BRANCH. An executive meeting of the Victoria League was held in the League rooms recently, Mrs. Burgess (president) presiding. There were also present Mesdames List, Shaw, Perry and Niehols, and Messrs. Brodie, Dawson and Dempsey. A large amount of correspondence from overseas had been received and dealt with, among which was a grateful acknowledgment of clothing sent. The arrival oT Miss Tracey, a Canadian teacher, to take up a position in one of our New Plymouth schools, was mentioned, and it was decided to send her a letter of welcome and to invite her to be the guest of the league while in the district.

Owing to the manner in which the league should contribute towards the Princess Mary gift being rather vague and unsettled it was eventually decided to send the local branch’s donatio?? through the Mayor, a form of giving which it has Ibeen suggested should be adopted throughout the Dominion.

A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. A. B- Gibson for the gift of a framed engraving of Queen Victoria. Mrs. Perry, at the earnest desire of the executive, consented to act as secretary to the league.
