The Football Federation has decided not to play the Association match against England on the 28th unless England excludes professionals. The French Rugby Federation has expelled Gaston Vidal, Under-Secretary of State for Technical Education, better known as French Minister for Sport. Vidal recently denounced the growth of professionalism among Frencn footballers and protested against, the excessive value the federation places on revenue from the games. Vidal’s frankness annoyed the French clubs, which called on Vidal to justify his defamatory language. He replied that he had spoken as Secretary of State.
After a secret ballot he was expelled by 195 votes to 170. It is noteworthy that Reichel, vice-president of the Football Association, has just resigned as a protest against the association allowing clubs to play against English professionals.—Aus.-N.Z. (’able Assn.
