In reply to a deputation from the Colonial Institute to-morrow Mr. Winston Churchill, it is expected, will disclose the Government’s policy regarding emigration. DE WET’S FUNERAL. Capetown, Feb. 9. Ten thousand attended De Wet’s funeral, representative of all classes. General Smuts, Mr. Hertzog, and ex-President Reitz delivered addresses, and burghers fired u volley over the grave. De Wet was buried alongside his old comrade, President Steyn. CO OPERATIVE MARKETING. Washington, Feb. 9. Congress has passed the Co-operative Marketing Bill authorising farmers, ranchers, dairymen, planters, nut and fruit growers collectively to handle and sell products, the Secretary of Agriculture alone determining whether the associations thus formed are monopolies or unduly enhanced prices. EX-EMPEROR CARL. Vienna, Feb. 9; The ex-Emperor Karl has requested permission to proceed with his family to a bathing resort in April because his children are unable to stand the summer in Madeira.' The Entente do not oppose the request, provided Karl accepts the same conditions as are imposed on residence in Madeira. IRISH COMMUNIST ACTION. London, Feb. 9. The Rebublican Army has handed over Halinan’s flour mill at Mallow, which was seized by strikers, to the owners. During the employees’ control £7OO worth of goods were sold, for which the owners are claiming indemnity from the provisional Government. MADMAN RUNS AMOK. Berne, Feb. 8. A madman ran amok with two revolvers at Lumino and shot five persons dead, including three women, and wounded five others. He then committed suicide.—Reuter Service.
