MANY THOUSANDS IDLE. SPREAD OF THE TROUBLE By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright Received Feb. 5, 5.5 p.m. Berlin, Feb. 3. The general railway workers have joined in the railway strike, which, it |s sstimeMid, is causing a loss of 190,000,000 marks daily. Municipal, postal and telegraphic employees are now threatening to- strik'?, and the situation is very serious. The Government decree threatening heavy fines or imprisonment for any men who strike or hamper the working of the railways, has aroused fierce anger among the vast army of subordinate State employees because it denies the right to strike. The unions are also up in arms against the seizure of union funds. Unless negotiations commencing between the Chancellor and the trade union leaders are successful Germany will be plunged in a general strike. Three hundred and fifty thousand are already idle. The strike fever is spreading. Many municipal workers are striking for a new scale of wages. Berlin to-morrow is likely to be without trams, gas, electricity or water.— Aua-N.Z. Cable Assn. THE STRIKE SETTLED. Received Feb. 5, 11.35 p.m. Berlin, Feb. 5.
