William Desmond Taylor, director of the Famous Players—Laaky Company, was found dead in hie bungalow, shot through the neck, the bullet penetrating the head. Robbery was not the motive, for his money was untouched. Mabel Normand was one of the parsons who discovered Taylor. The police believe that a former yaletsecretary named Sands has revenged himself on Taylor, who accused him oi robbery some time ago.—Aus.-N.Z. Cabl« Assn. Received Feb. 5, 11A5 pjn. New York, Feb. 4. The death of Taylor at Los Angeles bids fair to reveal the widely extending high life in the cinema world, involving a laige number of prominent actresses. Mabel Normand, Mary Miles Minter and various other stars, close friends of Taylor, are being examined by the police, who are making extraordinary efforts to detemiae the names of the men and women who left Taylor’s home near midnight on the night when he was killed. Taylor’s real name is Dean Tanner, of a well-to-do Dublin family. He, with hiig brother Dennis, came to America a num-* ber of years ago. Both married actresses and both deserted them. Dennis dirt William, under his altered name, aftei various adventures, ineluding service wirt the British Army in the war, turned op ou the Pacific Coast and entered the cinemas, and quickly became a leading figure in movie directorship.—Aus.-N.Z.
