CHINESE INTERESTS.
JAPAN WITHDRAWS DEMANDS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Feb. 3, 9.40 p.m. Washington, Feb. 2. , The Far Eastern Committee met Mr. Hughes, and announced that the Treaty, including various resolutions regarding China, was being drawn up. The committee adopted the sub-committee’s resolution recommending the better protection and greater efficiency for the Chinese Eastern railroad. Along with various other Siberian railways, China . will be held responsible to the creditors of the Eastern railroad. M. Shidehara, speaking on the twentyone demands, announced three modifications. Japan would grant to an international consortium the exclusive rights granted to the Japanese under the demands in Manchuria; Japan would not insist on the engagement of Japanese advisers in Manchuria, and would withdraw five of the demands. Mr. Sxe (China) interrogated the French delegates concerning France’s intentions of withdrawing from China. M. Sarraut announced that France was •willing to arrange directly with the Chinese Government the conditions under which she would restore the Kwangchowan railway.
