At the S.M. Court on Monday the following cases were dealt with: P. H. Holmes v. G. D. Jones, claim for £5 for repairs to vehicle, judgment for amount claimed with court costs £2 9s; R. Grey v. Meath (Opunake sawmill in liquidation) £l4 16s, costs £2 9s. W. Bell v. Puhehaere (judgment case), £8 8s 9d, the amount to be paid forthwith, in default fourteen days’ imprisonment.
The noxious weeds inspector (Mr. A. Cook) proceeded against G. Manaia for failing to clear gorse from his land. Mana’a was fined £5 and 12s costs.
Straying stock cases. —County engineer v. F. Boardman, for allowing two horses to wander on Arawhata Road, was fined 10s and costs 10s 6d; same v. W. Kehely, for allowing bullocks to wander on the road, fined 10s and costs 17s 6d.
James Collingwood, arrested for indecent assault, was remanded .to the Supreme Court. /
The case S. Birbi ch v. J. C. O’Rorke (share hulking), claim for £9O, defendant counter claiming for £2OO, was adjourned to New Plymouth. The case was partly heard before the Christmas vacation.
t Miss D. Moore, of Opunake, who has been for some time on the nursing staff at the Waipukurau Sanatorium, has been transferred to King George Hospital, Rotorua.
Mr. lan Campbell, late of the Public Works Department, has been appointed overseer of works by the Egmont County Council. Mr. G. King was appointed foreman of the Opua Northern Riding. Over forty applications were received for the position of overseer.
The seaside fete, postponed on account of wet weather, will be held on Saturday week.
