NEW PLYMOUTH SHOW.

The Taranaki Metropolitan Agricultural Society’s 47th annual show will be held at New Plymouth on March 8 and 9 next, as advertised elsewhere in this issue. This announcement will be of particular interest to breeders of high-class stock because experience has proved to them that this old-esta'blishd society does all in its power to ensure that their stock is exhibited under ideal conditions. The society is pleased to be able to tell exhibitors that it is now in a position to accommodate all dairy cattle under roofs. Exhibitors will realise what a tremendous advantage this is going to be to them, not to havq a single one of their animals standing out in the ■broiling sun, but to be comfortably housed in roomy pavilions. The prize schedule, now in circulation, is a most attractive one. Besides the usual prizes, most of the sections are endowed with liberal special prizes, trophies and gold medals. The Jersey section should strongly cpmmend itself to all breeders and owners of the pedigree animal, for the local Jersey Breeders’ Club has supplemented the prize money with cash donations of £3l and an additional £25 has been given by the N-Z. Jersey Breeders’ Association. The hriesian section, also, has found favor with donors, particularly the C.O.R. class, and that for Derby candidates. Since last show the schedule has been carefully revised and alterations and additions have been made where deemed, necessary. r^ie clause debarring horses in training from competing has been deleted, and the two classes for trotters in harness have been set down for judging on the second day of the show. The pig classes have been considerably extended, and a section tor Yorkshire pigs added. Taking the schedule as a whole, it is a decidedly attractive one, and should find favor with all exhibitors. Those who have not already had one posted to them should apply'at once to the secretary of the society. P.O. box 18, New Plymouth. Em tries will close on Friday, February 24 next.
