TERROR IN IRELAND.

ROBBERIES AND HOLD-UPS. \ ■ DRASTIC MARTIAL LAW. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Jan. 30, 5.{5 p.m. London, Jan. 30. In consequence of armed -gangs creating a reign of terror in several southern districts of Ireland, where they carried out many robberies and holdups, the RepuKlican army has declared martial law over a large part of Tipperary. The proclamation is more drastic than any British one during the recent warfare. It makes unauthorised possession of arms punishable by fleath. The Ki Harney justices handed over the control of the town to the army in order to frustrate the depredations by armed marauders located in the mountains.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
