CHILDREN’S HOME.

FARMER’S SPLENDID GIFT. The Waikato is to receive* a gift of most unusual dimensions in the shape of a children’s convalescent home at Kawhla, the generous donor being Mr. Bryant, who has given a block of 70 acres at Karioi, and is prepared to erect a building to accommodate 25 to 30 children. Mr. Bryant will also provide the maintenance for the children.

A working bee of 150 people has been busy clearing the site, and already several acres have been plantd m grass. The situation is an ideal one, being on the highlands at Karioi, three miles from Kawhia, and overlook Ocean Beach.

Mr. Bryant’s aim is to provide a home for weakly or convalescent children, or children who otherwise would bo . unable to afford a holiday at the seaside. There is no question of a money-making business with the proposed home, as it will be run on entirely charitable lines. If, however, it is considered that the connection of any of the children could afford to pav, a certain remuneration would be welcofiie. The sanatorium will be non-sectarian. A board of trustees has taken over the matter, and the buuuing will be commenced immediately.
