QUESTION OF ASSISTANCE. GOVERNMENT MOVING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. In the House this afternoon the Leader of the Opposition (Mr. T. M. Wilford) asked the Premier if he would bring down some scheme by which farmers in distress might be given time to pay interest on mortgages. Mr. Massey said the matter was serious and was now under consideration by the Government, but he did not recollect ever having tackled any question so difficult. The House, however, could rely that nothing would be left undone that could be done.
