ACCIDENT ON TRAIN.
MAN INJURED AT TE ROTI. An accident occurred on the New Ply-mouth-Wellington mail train yesterday morning at Te Roti, by which W. Wauchop, a resident of Stratford, had his right arm badly broken. As the train was passing through Te Roti Mr. Wauchop, who was in the car next to the engine, went on to the platform to throw a morning paper to the porter on the Te Roti station. He was in the act of throwing the paper when his arm was caught in the tablet exchange and badly torn and broken. The engine driver had apparently seen the accident and stopped the train immediately and first aid was. administered. Dr. Campbell, of New Plymouth, and Nurse Baker, of New Plymouth, who were on the train, attended tD the injured man. It was found that the bone of the right forearm had sustained a compound fracture and the oig sinews of the arm were severed. Mr. Wauchop was taken off the train at Hawera, where he was proceeding.
