LEGISLATIVE CHAMBER
EXPENSES IN FURNISHING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. In the House this afternoon the Minister for Public Works moved that a special committee be set up to consider the acoustic Qualities and furnishing of the Legislative Chamber. The members of this committee were to meet during the recess and were to be allowed reasonable travelling expenses. To this Mr. R. McCallum (Wairau) objected on the ground that there were sufficient members within easy reach of Wellington, and the Government could thus avoid the cost of bringing other members from both ends of the Dominion. The expenditure proposed under this head was jnockery in these aays when economy was the cry. Several other members took up this , line of objection, but the matter was interrupted by the 5.30 p.m. adjournment.
