GOOD PRICES FOR LAMB.
FARMERS ADVISED TO HOLD. GOOD PROSPECTS FOR ARTICLE. (By Wire.—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. Some remarks of interest to farmers were made to-day by Mr. A. Hamilton, M.P., who is a member/of the Parliamentary Meat Pool Committee. Mr. Hamilton said that he had received eome inquiries from Southland farmers as to whether they should sell their lamb, for J which they were being] offered 4|d to q 4Jd per pound, and his advice to them was that they should hold. Mr. Hamilton stated that the committee was in the closest touch with the markets, and it had knowledge of actual sales being made at over 6d per pound not to the farmer for first quality lamb up to 42 pounds. He was of opinion that the prospects for lamb were good, and that farmers would be well advised not to sell at the lower prices mentioned. They should hang their meat up in the works pending definite proposals, which should be made by the Meat Pool Committee and the Government within the next ten days. 1 He added that the question of finance in connection with the pooling system was being arranged.
