MEN WANTING WORK.
POSITION IN NEW PLYMOUTH. Enquiries from a New Plymouth labor agency yesterday elicited the fact that applicants seeking work through this particular channel averaged about half a dozen daily. The majority of these were general laborers, but the vacancies for this jdass of work at present are not many. The agent was of the opinion, however, that “a good man can always get a job,” and supported the contention by citing a recent instance in which one man whose employment ended on a Saturday in a recent week had secured another position by Monday morning. The experience at the Government Labor Bureau also indicates that unskilled men comprise about 35 per cent, of the applications for work. In a recent six-day period there were twelve enquiries, including two carpenters. The only positions offering by employers were for farm hands.
