WAITARA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Jan. 11. Mr. W. H. Roberts was the recipient on Friday last of a memento from his fellow employees at the local post office. The postmaster, in making the presentation, referred to Mr. Roberts as one of the most efficient officers he had met in the service, and in these days o-f accelerated promotion Mr. Roberts should attain to the position of chief postmaster. Mr. Roberts left on Saturday morning to take up the position of postmaster at Kaponga. Mr. Thos. McKenzie, after attending the Clifton County Council meeting, became ill, and his doctor ordered his removal to the hospital. He is suffering from a severe attack of pneumonia. The borough overseer, after making a careful investigation of all premises in the borough, finds that the town is in a very satisfactory state of cleanliness. Very few rats have been found.
