EGMONT A. AND P. ASSOCIATION
IMPROVEMENTS MADE DURING THE YEAR. The past year has again been one of much activity with the Egmont A. and P. Association, and some important permanent improvements have been effected on the show grounds. The alterations, which are the result of mucn careful planning on the part of the committee, are on a large scale, and have cost the association a considerable amount of money, but this expense. is justified by the added convenience which has been’ afforded patrons. Such a well laid-out and splendidly situated ground, as the association now has is a matter for congratulation. Their ground is regarded as one of the most valuable in the Dominion. Prior to the last show four double rows of cattle pens, strongly built and roofed with corrugated iron and made to accommodate 160 animals, were erected Thirty horse-boxes were also built, each 12ft. by 10ft., and these are available to owners of hunters, stallions or other horses, who may be in need of such accommodation at a reasonable charge. The moving and renovating oi what used to be the open grandstand has this year produced the most noticeable change. Tn place of the rows of exposed seats from which football enthusiasts watched many a match last season in all kinds of weather, there is now a covered-in stand, extending along the greater part of the same side pf the oval, and capable of seating 1300 people. The oval has been levelled ana re-encircled by -new jarrah rails and posts. There is no doubt that the coming show will prove the value of these main improvements. The matter of allocating space has always been one that lias required the utmost attention by ' those responsible, and now that the moving of the grandstand has been accomplished the showing ground immediately inside the main entranee nns been widened by about 30 yards. This is a step that will meet with the general approval of all interested, as it ensures relief from the congestion that is apt to arise just inside the mam gates when large numbers of visitors are attending the show. It is not the intention of the committee that improvements shouM cease with this show, as they have in view the erection of covered-in sheep anti pig pens, and perhaps a suitable dinin? room. These improvements indicate that the A. and P. Association is g live body and are not letting the grow under their feet.
