PARLIAMENT TO-DAY.
CIVIL SERVICE RETRENCHMENT. EARLY ACTION EXPECTED. (By Wire.—Own Correspondent.) Wellington, Last Night. The Legislative Council met for a“ few moments to-day, but did no business. The House of Representatives will meet to-morrow afternoon and will proceed with the work of the session. The Government’s scheme of retrenchment in the civil service will be one of the matters to be dealt with early, and legislation concerning the meat pool will be brought down as soon ae the details have been adjusted by the committee of producers.
