NELSON v. SOUTH TARANAKI. WIN FOR THE VISITORS. The Nelson touring cricket team, which rceently annexed the Hawke Cup from Rangitikei, played a match against South Taranaki yesterday at Hawera, the visitors winning on the first innings by 67 runs. Nelson won the toss and elected to bat. The first three wickets were down for 42, and then Kennitz, who bad made 17, and Langbein became associated, and added 60 for the fourth wicket before the latter was bowled by Cole for 37. Kennitz, playing sound cricket, was not disposed of until he had reached 84, and the score stood at 191 for seven wickets, the innings closing at 221. Cole came out with the good average of six for 72. South Taranaki’s innings started badly, Penny being dismissed for a “duck” with the score at two. Judd and Little then made a very useful stand, the partnership adding 62 for the second wicket. Little, with a vigorous 45, which included six boundaries and a six,’ contributed tap score.
