Orders for papers may also be left with the»m. RURAL MAILS. Dec. 31. Mr. R. Masters, M.P., has received a letter from the Postmaster-General (Hon. J. G. Coates): —“In reference to the representations made through yo-i by settlers of the Opunake, Brecon and Brooks Roads regarding the rural mail delivery fees proposed to be- charged from January 1, I have the honor to inform you that it has now been decided to ieduce the fees by 50 per c?nt. that is, to 10s per annum for serving a box on the route of a delivery of frequency not greater than thrice weekly, and £1 per annum for a box on th«» route of a delivery of a frequency greater than thrice-weekly.” THE NEW YEAR. January 2. There was not a large crowd on Broadway on New Year’s Eve, not nearly as many as on Christmas Eve, and the evening was an exceedingly quiet one. New Year festivities were conspicuous by their absence, with the exception of one “live” party, who, with the assistance of an impromptu jazz orchestra, sang the. Old Year out and welcomed in the New Year. Their’s was the only touch of the accepted idea of celebrating the coming of another year. Sunday was an unpleasant day, with intermittent, rain showers and few people left their homes. There was a large crowd in town this morning and Broadway presented, if not a busy, at least an animated scene. A steady stream of motor ears passed along the street and the footpaths were thronged with race-goers.

Don’t fail to see these. Other lines suitable as gifts are Pocket Diaries. Leather Wallets and Purses, Cabinets oi Stationery. Stamp and Photo Albums etc. Don’t forget, the address—Wilson Bros., opposite P.A.C. Auction Mart, Stratford.
