THE MEAT POOL.
APPROVAL FROM MANCHESTER. “A very important message,” was the Prime Minister’s comment as he handed the following cablegram to a Dominion representative on Tuesday: Manchester will gladly co-ordinate your export proposals, providing dock storage and distributing facilities through existing channels to the advantage of one-fifth of the population « of Great Britain. (Signed) Simon. ’ / Lord Mayor of Manchester; W. C. Bacon, chairman Manchester Ship Canal; Marhsall Stevens, M.P., chairman 4th Manchester Warehouses. Trafford Park Cold Storage, and Manchester Consignment, Ltd. Reference to the meat pool prompted Mr. Massey to observe that there was an erroneous impression in the minds some persons that the new organisation would be a new Government Department. “It will not be a Government department,” he said. “It will be fhe producers’ own organisation, with Government support and backing.”
